Bioware has always been one of my favourite game developer for RPGs. My first taste of them was Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and after that I had to try out every single game developed by them, and not one of them disappointed me. So, naturally when Bioware announced their epic RPG Dragon Age, I was excited. And it is with great pleasure that I say, Dragon Age has not failed me. The game is chock full of contents and lore, and you can spend hours on end just getting to know the game.
Unlike previous Bioware games, there's no morale system binding and so you can mix-n-match to your hearts content and see how the world reacts to your hearts content. The game allows you to create your own character with the powerful DA:O Character Creator, from a pool of 3 races, which is sub-divided into Mages, Rougues and Warriors. This choice here not only marks the beginning of the many choices, but also how the story of your character begins, how you fit into the world's lore and how the world perceives you. The story is very engrossing, the characters beautifully done with excellent voice overs adding to the depth. The tactical combat system is one of the best you'll see. You can pause the combat any time and issue individual orders to each of your team-mates. And if you have a powerful enough rig, the effects are very sweet! Plus you can mix an match spells and abilities to create unique effects, like shattering an enemy who is frozen solid!
The game itself is immense. It will take over 90+ hours each time and multiple playthroughs just to get to know everything there is to know about the game. And just like the pen-and-paper RPG games of yore, this game will never "break", you can always find alternatives to doing things your way, from talking your way through everything to butchering everything in sight, a rarity in today's so-called RPGs.
Apart from these the Ultimate Edition of Dragon Age: Origins, along with the cool name, comes packed to the gills with EVERY single purchasable component out there, including the expansion for a price that is over 60% discounted, if the extras are bought individually. Plus, all those are credited to your Bioware Account, so you can download them anytime, anywhere! The offer is so good that you'd feel guilty of stealing!
Overall, I highly recommend it to anyone who has an urge to delve into classic RPGing or need to satiate their thirst for RPGs (like me!)
PS: I bought this from here over 2 months ago, but couldn't get enough time out of the game to write this! :P
