In Warhammer 40,000 you play as a Spacemarine who's objective is to fend off an Orc invasion of earth. The game follows the previous Dawn of War games style in which you directly jump in the action using your chainsaws and heavy bolters to take out wave after wave of Orcs. You command many squads too which are equipped with snipers, bolters, can perform stealth etc. The game is very good visually and captures the brutality of the dawn of war universe.

The gameplay feels immensely satisfying but that's all that there is to it. The story gets bland and boring after a while. There is not a lot of variation in the enemies and the bosses are dull.

To sum it up Warhammer 4k will be a treat for fans of the previous franchise who expect nothing but blood and gore but should be left on the shelf for those who expect a good story line.

This game is a mixed bag of goodies. On the one hand it is a gore-fest with the object aim of total orc-genocide. You're a Spacemarine fending off an orc invasion of Earth. You and your other marine comrades are given an arsenal consisting of pistols, assault rifles, grenade launchers and snipers. The game then leaves you run-and-gun your way towards total orc annihilation by killing hordes of orcs grunting "Spayeesemarine" at you.

While this is undeniably fun, this is sadly all the game is. There's not much change of pace other than varying enemies or generic campaign missions. There's no cover system so you keep running until you grind down all the opposition or you're blown apart yourself. The visuals and sound is good enough to bring out the intensity of war, especially one involving frickin orcs!

The game does better in multiplayer when it pits you against other marines, in relentless bloodfare. So, at the end, buy the game for it's brutal combat and fun multiplayer, but lay off if you're looking for a good story or variety in gameplay.
